Syracuse, N.Y. - Freshman sprinter
Christopher Zajdel (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) of the men's track & field team has been named the Le Moyne Athlete of the Week, presented by CADimensions Inc., as announced by the department on Wednesday.
Zajdel earns the honor after setting two program records in the men's 200m and men's 400m event. In the men's 200m event, Zajdel recorded a 9
th place finish after running a time of 22.73. The previous 200m record was held by teammate redshirt-junior sprinter
Brandon Scott (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) which he set February 9th, 2024.
Chris registered not only his second-straight 1
st place finish in the 400m, but also his second-straight program record in the event. Zajdel clocked in with a time of 49.74, beating his time from last week at the West Point Open by 0.65 seconds. The previous men's 400m record was set by Jacob Schmid on February 2
nd, 2019 where he crossed the finish line in a time of 50.73 at Utica.
Zajdel and the Dolphins are back in action this Friday, as they are set to travel to Rochester, N.Y. to compete in the RIT Friday Meet.
