Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior
Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) of the men's golf team has been named the Le Moyne Athlete of the Week, presented by King + King Architects.
Maglisco earns the honor after setting the program's single-round record and finishing in a three-way tie for eighth place with a career-best 54-hole total of 211 at The Autumn Invitational hosted by Columbia University on Saturday and Sunday. He recorded 14 birdies (tied for the fourth-most in the field) and 30 pars at the Lake Placid Club's Links Course.
He opened with a 73, including four birdies and 10 pars, to land in a four-way tie for 45th.
He then fired a program-record six-under 65 in the second round, featuring seven birdies and 10 more pars, to leap 41 spots into a six-way tie for fourth place. His 65 surpasses the previous record of 66 initially set by John Clare '17 in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Championship and equaled by then-sophomore
Owen Corby in the first round at the Bucknell Invitational last October. The six-under tops the previous record of five-under set by Corby in the second round at April's Buckeye Classic, when he had a 67. Maglisco's 36-hole total of 138 is tied for the third-best by a Dolphin behind two 136s from Clare, while his four-under through 36 holes is tied for the third-best behind Clare's six-under at the Navy Fall Classic in September 2015 and Jonathan Petrin '20's five-under at the Penmen Fall Invitational in September 2019.
He closed out the invitational with a bookending 73, which included three birdies and another 10 pars, to finish in the tie for eighth.
The Dolphins are back in action at Binghamton University's Matthews Auto Intercollegiate Sunday and Monday at The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y.
