Box Score 2 New Haven, Conn. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team recorded a pair of victories at the ITA New England Regional Championships, hosted by Yale University.
Freshman
Carlo Zucchini (Varese, Italy/European School of Varese) recorded the team's first win, 6-2, 6-0 over Boston University's Andrew Andea in the first round of qualifying. In the second round, he fell to Brown University's James Lian.
Sophomore
Navya Verma (Patiala, India/Apollo Public School) fell to Stonehill College's Alessandro Muniz in the first round of qualifying, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3. He followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Niagara University's Aryav Bhawan in the consolation round.
Senior
Adrian Daniel (Tel Aviv, Israel/Tichonet/Montana State) fell to Fairfield University's Alex Aguiar, 7-5, 6-2, in the first round of qualifying. He fell to Boston University's Payton Jim On in the consolation round, 6-3, 6-2.
In the main draw, junior
Emmanuel Cottle (Toronto, Ontario/Ontario Virtual School/Alcorn State) fell to the University of Buffalo's Theodoris Mitsakos, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles action, Cottle and Zucchini fell to Buffalo's Emiliano Jorquera and Faiz Nasyam, 9-7, in the first round.
Sophomores
Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) and
Callum Matthew (Dorset, England/Highcliffe School) also were edged in the first round of doubles, 9-7, by Brown's Cole Oberg and Alexander Koong.
The Dolphins close out the Fall semester at the Colgate University Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
