MEN’S SOCCER RALLIES IN CLOSING MINUTES FOR 3-3 DRAW AT NEW HAVEN

West Haven, Conn. – Graduate student forward Francesco Pagano (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Syracuse/Coastal Carolina) headed in the game-tying goal with only 81 seconds left as the Le Moyne College men's soccer team rallied to tie the University of New Haven, 3-3, on Thursday night in NEC action at Kathy Zolad Stadium.

The Dolphins got the game's scoring started just over nine minutes into the contest. After carrying the ball into the bottom right corner of the penalty box, redshirt sophomore defender Vito Kreuzpaintner (Munich, Bavaria, Germany/FOS Nord/UNC Wilmington) crossed the ball into the middle. Sophomore midfielder Giuliano Michitti (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) settled the ball and sent a shot towards the goal. The ball redirected off a New Haven player due to the momentum of the shot and into the right side of the net at the 9:23 mark for his first goal of the season.

New Haven scored twice in a span of six and one-half minutes in the opening quarter of the second to take the lead. Lukian Lawro evened the score at one apiece at the 49:07 mark from near the top of the box off a pass from Andres Lazo. Andrew Buchanan put the Chargers in front at the 55:33 mark after another feed from Lazo.

Le Moyne answered back 15 and one-half minutes later to tie the score for the second time. Kreuzpaintner carried the ball up the middle of the field to the top of the penalty box. His pass went through the box to a charging Felix Ludemann (Wrestedt, Germany/Herzog-Ernst-Gymnasium Uelzen) on the left side, where he one-touched a shot from 12 yards out into the left side of the net for his third marker of the season.

After the Dolphins had a shot saved and New Haven had four errant shots, the Chargers regained the lead with just under five minutes remaining in the game. Following a foul on the Dolphins near the right sideline. Donghyeon You served the ball into the box. From near the right sideline, You served the ball towards the back post, where Joao Pires was able to head the ball into the left side of the goal at the 85:03 mark.

With only 81 seconds remaining, the Dolphins evened the score at three apiece. Off a free kick from the middle of the field, graduate student midfielder Antonino Pagano (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Syracuse/Coastal Carolina) headed the ball into the next from the top of the goal box.
