Recap:

The Dolphins and Chargers met again for the first time since 2022, a rivalry that stemmed back to 1993 when Le Moyne defeated New Haven by a score of 3-1 in the NE10 conference. Le Moyne entered today's match following a 0-0 tie at Central Connecticut State University on Thursday, while New Haven were defeated 3-0 against Chicago State on Thursday.

Le Moyne recorded the first shot of the day taken by sophomore forward Alivia Day (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta), headed towards the top-center of the goal forcing senior goalkeeper Caitlin Daley to make her first save of the game in the 16th minute. A minute later, senior forward Caitlyn Toom of the Chargers received the first and only yellow card of the game.

In the 22nd minute, graduate student Danielle Casey (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) forced Daley to make her second save of the game after her shot was headed towards the top left corner. Two minutes later, the 'Phins brought on freshman midfielder Grace Gironda (Red Bank, N.J./Middletown South) and fifth year midfielder Gabriella Sylstra (Little Falls, N.Y./Little Falls/Old Dominion/Richard Bland) to provide some fresh legs to the midfield.

Two minutes after being brought on, Gironda recorded her first shot of the game, however her attempt was off target resulting in a goal kick for the Chargers. Day also had two shot attempts blocked by the defenders of New Haven.

In the 34th minute, sophomore forward Nicole Calle (Providence, R.I./Cumberland) made her first appearance of the game.

The 'Phins were awarded a penalty kick in the 36th minute after junior forward Hope Adigun (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) was taken out inside the box. Redshirt-sophomore defender Logan Cookinham (Poland, N.Y./Poland) stepped up to take the penalty, calmly shooting the ball to the goalkeepers left and putting Le Moyne up 1-0.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mikayla McPheron (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) made her first save of the game in the 41st minute of the game taken by sophomore forward Grace Simpson, as her attempt was headed towards the bottom left corner.

On the ensuing counter attack, the Dolphins added their second goal of the game. Casey controlled the ball near the midfield line, before playing in a ball over the top towards Calle, chipping Daley as the ball rolled into the back of the net to give Le Moyne a 2-0 advantage just before halftime. The two programs entered halftime with Le Moyne leading the Chargers by a score of 2-0.

McPheron was called into action to make her second save of the game in the 60th minute off a shot taken by junior defender Janayah Body headed towards the bottom left corner. Mikayla added two more saves a minute later off two shots from freshman defender Caitlin Barry to prevent the Chargers from finding their opening goal.

The 'Phins brought on senior midfielder Lindsey Leblanc (Westminster, Mass./St. Bernard's), senior defender Jadyn Kantak (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) freshman midfielder Ella Lathrop (Walworth, N.Y./Ruben A. Cirillo) and Day to provide reinforcements within the lineup as the Chargers continued to put pressure on the defense of Le Moyne.

In the 73rd minute, McPheron pulled off yet another save off another shot headed towards the bottom left corner of the goal taken by freshman midfielder Verity Ungaro. She added her sixth save of the game in the 80th minute of the game off a shot headed down the middle of the goal taken by Barry. Mikayla made her seventh and final save of the game in the 89th minute of the game off another shot headed down the center of the goal taken by junior midfielder Emma Mitchell.

The Dolphins held on to keep the clean sheet and see out a 2-0 win, their first of the season.
