Teaneck, N.J. – Arnau Rabassa Guillamon scored a pair of second-half goals to lead FDU to a 3-1 win over the Le Moyne College men's soccer team in NEC action on Thursday afternoon at University Stadium.
The Knights recorded the first four shots of the game, including a pair that were on target, but were turned away.
Le Moyne's first shot of the contest came in the 22nd minute and had to be saved by goalkeeper Victor Laracca.
FDU tallied five of the last six shots of the opening half, the last of which had to be saved by junior goalkeeper
Wyatt Dupell (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse).
After he had a shot saved in the 52nd minute, Jaime Barbero got the Knights on the scoreboard at the 60:34 mark with a blast into the lower right corner of the net from the left side of the penalty box.
An FDU defender tied the score at one apiece just 81 seconds later by inadvertently heading the ball into his own net off a centering pass by sophomore midfielder
Giuliano Michitti (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) on a corner kick.
The Knights regained the lead only 43 seconds later as Rabassa Guillamon scored from the right post after having his initial shot from the spot saved by Dupell.
FDU, which also scored three goals in the second half in a 3-2 win over the Dolphins in the NEC semifinals last year, extended its lead to 3-1 at the 71:55 mark as Rabassa Guillamon scored from the top of the goal box following passes from Connor O'Reilly and Luke Ayaz.
Le Moyne registered five of the last six shots of the game, including three shots on goal that needed to be saved by Laracca, but could not cut into its deficit.
Dupell finished the contest with four saves. Laracca also made four saves for the Knights.
Le Moyne (3-9-2, 2-3-2 NEC) closes out the road portion of its regular season schedule next Thursday at Central Connecticut State University at 3:00 p.m.
