Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore
Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) of the women's golf team has been selected as the Le Moyne Athlete of the Week, presented by CADimensions Inc.
Williams earns the recognition after setting the program's 54-hole record and finishing in 10th place with a total of 225 at the Autumn Harvest hosted by Lehigh University on Monday and Tuesday. She registered seven birdies (tied for the sixth-most in the field) and 32 pars at the par-71, 6111-yard Architects Golf Club. The previous record of 231 was set by
Mia Avotins '25 at Niagara's Purple Eagle Invite October 1 and 2, 2023.
Williams opened with a then-career best 76, including three birdies and nine pars, to land in a 10-way tie for eighth.
She carded a career-best 73 in the afternoon, featuring two birdies and 12 pars, to end the day in a four-way tie for ninth place. Her 73 is tied with three others for the third-best score in the program's history and is the best mark by a sophomore (eclipsing the previous mark of 74 set by Katie Walsh '18 in September 2016). Williams' 36-hole total of 149 is tied for the third-best by a Dolphin and is the best score by a sophomore (surpassing a 151 by Avotins in September 2022).
She closed out the invitational with a bookending 76, which included two birdies and 11 pars, to finish in 10th in the 51-player field. She joins Avotins at Toledo's Rocket Classic last year as the only Dolphins to record three rounds in the 70s.
The Dolphins are back in action on October 12 and 13 at the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational at Normanside Country Club in Delmar, N.Y.
