Recap:

Le Moyne and Howard met in what was the 5th NEC matchup of the year for both programs. Le Moyne entered the game following a 1-0 loss to Mercyhurst on Thursday, October 2nd. Howard entered today's contest following a 3-2 win over Delaware State, currently sitting 3rd in the NEC standings.

Howard came out of the gates quickly, recording the first shot of the game in the 1st minute, forcing sophomore goalkeeper Mikayla McPheron (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) to make her first save of the game. Howard added a second shot to its tally in the 4th minute, resulting in a goal kick for Le Moyne.

McPheron made her second save of the game in the 8th minute of the game off of a shot taken by graduate student defender Rachel Suttle, as her attempt headed towards the bottom left corner of the goal.

Howard were first to find the back of the net in the 12th minute of play. After earning a corner kick, the ball was played into the box, bouncing around before eventually being met by sophomore forward Demi Owens, who slid the ball underneath McPheron to give the Bison an early 1-0 lead.

McPheron added a third save to her tally after redshirt junior Leah Williams took a shot from distance, headed towards the bottom left corner. Fifth year midfielder Gabriella Sylstra (Little Falls, N.Y./Little Falls/Richard Bland/Old Dominion) recorded the first shot attempt of the day for the 'Phins in the 19th minute, however her attempt was off target.

In the 27th minute, junior goalkeeper Trinity Knox of the Bison made her first save of the game off a shot taken by senior midfielder Lindsey LeBlanc (Westminster, Mass./St. Bernard's). Le Moyne made two substitutions in the 30th minute which saw freshman midfielder Grace Gironda (Red Bank, N.J./Middletown South) and sophomore forward Nicole Calle (Providence, R.I./Cumberland) make their first appearances of the game.

Sophomore forward Alivia Day (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) registered a shot in the 38th minute, resulting in a goal kick for the Bison. Neither side were able to put a chance on goal for the remainder of the 1st half as the two programs entered halftime with the Bison leading the 'Phins 1-0.

Le Moyne recorded the first shot of the 2nd half taken by Calle, however her effort did not trouble Knox as the Bison were awarded a goal kick. In the 56th minute, sophomore defender Mallory Pietrzak (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) had her shot blocked just outside of the box as the Dolphins continued to push for their equalizer.

After a collision in the box between a few 'Phins and Bison, Howard were forced to change their goalkeeper as freshman Sienna Hamilton-Grein made her first appearance of the game. Howard were also given the game's one and only yellow card for unsporting behavior, as redshirt senior defender Samone Knight was put into the referee's book.

McPheron pulled out her fourth save of the game in the 64th minute of the game to keep the 'Phins within striking distance after junior midfielder Asia Mickens-Perez took a shot headed down the center of the goal. Graduate student defender Katelyn Courcy (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and freshman midfielder Ella Lathrop (Walworth, N.Y./Ruben A. Cirillo) made their first appearances of the game in the 66th and 70th minutes of the game.

McPheron added her fifth save of the game in the 76th minute off another attempt taken by Mickens-Perez as the Bison still held a one goal advantage. She added her sixth and final save of the game with 40 seconds left in the game as the Bison went on to win the game by a score of 1-0.
