Geneva, O.H. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the 2024-25 Northeast Conference Championships on Saturday night. The 'Phins women's squad finished the season in seventh place with 191.5 points and the men's team came in fourth with 552 points.
Women's Squad:
Junior Brooke Sommo (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) earned 13th place in the 200-yard backstroke, coming in at 2:07.82.
Sophomore Madeleine O'Dea (Milton, Ontario/Milton District) placed 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a final time of 2:26.57.
The relay team of sophomores Sommo, freshmen Shannon Swezey (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) and Kaiya Fraley (Watervliet,. N.Y./Shaker), and sophomore Kayleigh Bigwarfe (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem) took sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 3:36.48.
Men's Team:
Junior Nathaniel Kwait (Fairfield, C.T./Fairfield) placed 10th in the 1650-yard freestyle with a final time of 17:03.79.
Freshman Andrew Hartman (Slingerlands, N.Y./Bethlehem) took eighth place in the 200-yard backstroke with a final time of 1:57.17. Junior Xavier Silaika (Rexford, N.Y./Shenendehowa) followed in 10th place, coming in at the 1:56.48 mark.
Freshman Michael White Jr. (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and sophomore Michael Han (Auckland, N.Z./Pakuranga College) finished eighth and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle with final times of 46.28 and 46.74, respectively.
Freshman Lucas Clay (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) earned a podium spot coming in second in the 200-yard breaststroke, beating out his own program record that he set earlier in prelims with a final time of 2:01.10.
Freshman Alexander Pilieci (Ottawa, O.N./John McCrae) claimed fourth place in the 200-yard butterfly with a final time of 1:51.74. Freshmen Jack Milligan (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) and Chase Starzman (Beacon Falls, C.T./Woodland Regional) took the eighth and 10th spots with times of 2:01.45 and 1:59.63, respectively.
The relay team of Han, and freshmen Jacob Griffin (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse), Milligan, and White earned fourth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay, beating out a 19-year old program record with a final time of 3:05.04.
