Syracuse, N.Y. – Graduate student attackman
Zachary Delaney (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga/Hobart) scored three goals to lead the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 10-9 victory over St. Bonaventure University on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
St. Bonaventure got on the scoreboard first just 1:21 into the game as Kyle Pepper scored his fifth goal of the season after taking a pass from Jake Kucinski.
Following 10 and one-half minutes of scoreless play, graduate student midfielder
Ethan Loun (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) netted his second goal of the campaign to even the score at one apiece.
Senior midfielder
Ryan Eisenmann (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) put the Dolphins in front just 1:02 into the second quarter with his second goal of the year.
The Bonnies answered with the next two goals. John Boomer tied the score with 11:47 left with his first goal of the season. Following a Le Moyne penalty, Jaxon Dillon put St. Bonaventure up with his second goal of the campaign off a feed from Pepper.
Le Moyne scored the final two goals of the quarter to take a 4-3 lead into halftime. Delaney tied the score with 4:29 remaining with his second tally of the year. Junior midfielder
Zack Crosby (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) netted his second marker of the season with 27 seconds left for the lead.
Eisenmann put the Dolphins up by two for the first time with his second goal of the day just 65 seconds into the third quarter.
Pepper answered back just 33 seconds later to get the Bonnies within one.
Junior attackman
Owen Wilson (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) pushed the margin back to two with his fourth goal of the season with 10:30 remaining.
Pepper responded again 70 seconds later with his seventh goal of the year off a feed from Conor Murphy.
Eisenmann kept the see-saw going with his fourth goal of the campaign with 4:27 to go.
Boomer got the Bonnies within 7-6 with 1:35 left with his second goal of the contest.
Delaney closed out the scoring in the quarter with 12 seconds left.
Kucinski collected his second point of the day 57 seconds into the fourth quarter after taking a pass from Drew Kenney.
The Dolphins followed with the next two goals. Wilson found the back of the net in an extra-man situation with 10:02 left off a feed from freshman midfielder
Emmet McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville). Delaney scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 3:26 mark off a pass from Loun to make it 10-7.
St. Bonaventure scored twice in 2:06 to pull within one. Patrick Shanahan netted his sixth goal of the season with 2:45 left to make it 10-8. Following three turnovers by the Dolphins around two empty possessions by the Bonnies, Kellen Pulera scored his sixth goal of year off a pass from Murphy with 39 seconds left.
Le Moyne won the ensuing faceoff and ran 34 seconds off the clock before turning the ball over with five seconds left. Kucinski was able to get a shot off with one second remaining, but it was saved by redshirt sophomore goalkeeper
Carter Ruhm (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal/Bridgton Academy/Robert Morris) as time expired.
Ruhm finished the game with 10 saves, including five in the second quarter, to earn the victory between the pipes. Isaac Farmer made seven saves in the setback for the Bonnies.
Le Moyne (2-1) remains home and will host Mercer University next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
