MEN’S LACROSSE POSTS SECOND STRAIGHT WIN, 10-7, OVER MERCER

Syracuse, N.Y. – Redshirt sophomore attackman Thomas Berry (Tully, N.Y./Tully) tallied a career-high three goals to lead the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 10-7 victory over Mercer University on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

After each team had a turnover on its first possession, Mercer got on the scoreboard first at the 12:37 mark as Luke Fox netted his fourth goal of the season off a pass from Dylan McKelvy.

Le Moyne answered with three goals in a span of 1:50. Graduate student midfielder Ethan Loun (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) started the run at the 10:30 mark with his third goal of the season from the front of the crease. Just 39 seconds later, senior midfielder Olin Stanat (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) scored off a back-handed shot after collecting a pass from junior midfielder Zack Crosby (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn). Graduate student attackman Zachary Delaney (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga/Hobart) netted his fifth goal of the season with 8:40 left after taking a feed from Loun.

The teams traded goals in the second quarter as each scored three times. Ganon Cope started the scoring for the Bears with his second of the season just 54 seconds into the period. Delaney registered his second goal of the game with 11:53 left to push the lead back to two. Michael Frederick cut the margin back to one with 6:44 left with his fifth goal of the season. Berry answered for the Dolphins with 3:54 to go after collecting a pass from freshman midfielder Emmet McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville). Kade McNeil capped the scoring for Mercer in the quarter with his third goal of the season off a dish from Christian Laureano with 2:32 left. Sophomore attackman Mason Ciciarelli (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) tallied his first goal of the season with 1:13 left after scooping up the rebound off his first shot of the year to give the Dolphins a 6-4 lead at halftime.

Following almost five minutes of scoreless play to start the third quarter, Berry scored his second goal of the day at the 10:14 mark after collecting a feed from Ciciarelli.

McKelvy recorded his fifth goal of the campaign with 6:11 left to pull the Bears back within two.

Le Moyne tallied the final two goals of the quarter. Senior midfielder Ryan Eisenmann (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) netted his fifth tally of the season with 5:10 to go. Following a slashing penalty on the Bears enforced on the goal, Berry scored in the extra-man situation off a feed from Delaney with 4:18 remaining.

After being held off the scoreboard for just over 16 minutes, Mercer cut into its deficit at the 5:07 mark of the fourth quarter as Dillon Bush scored his 15th goal of the year off a pass from McKelvy.

Junior attackman Owen Wilson (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) pushed Le Moyne's lead back to four with an empty-net goal with 3:08 to play.

Following a Le Moyne turnover off the ensuing faceoff, Bush scored his team-best 16th goal of the year with 2:49 remaining off a pass in transition from Luke Hand to close out the game's scoring.

The Dolphins took advantage of a Mercer penalty and were able to run over two minutes off the clock on its next possession.

Mercer got off one shot on its final possession, but hit the post with six seconds left and the Dolphins were able to collect the rebound and run out the clock.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Carter Ruhm (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal/Bridgton Academy/Robert Morris) registered nine saves, including two in two seconds midway through the fourth quarter, to earn the victory between the pipes. Rand Paddack also made nine saves for the Bears in the loss.

Le Moyne (3-1), which defeated the Bears, 10-6, last year at Mercer, concludes its season-opening five-game homestand on Tuesday against Hobart College at 3:00 p.m.
