Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore outfielder Sydney Nesci (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) of the softball team has been selected as the Le Moyne College Athlete of the Week, presented by King + King Architects, as announced by the department.
Nesci receives the recognition for the first time after helping lead Le Moyne to a perfect 5-0 record at the Mount St. Mary's Tournament last weekend, Friday-Sunday, Mar. 7-9.
Nesci was also named the NEC Softball Player of the Week, a first for Le Moyne softball since joining the conference, as well as a Prime Performer.
The outfielder slashed .500/.550/.667 in 18 at-bats while starting in all five games. She added three doubles, two walks, eight RBI, and five runs scored while not striking out once over the weekend slate.
Nesci produced four multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games during the recent tournament in Emmitsburg, Md., including a 2-3 performance against Mount St. Mary's on Friday, Mar. 7 in which she recorded one double and one walk while driving in a pair and crossing the plate twice herself.
The Dolphins will open conference play this weekend as they travel to New Britain, Conn. and play a three-game set against Central Connecticut State on Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 15-16.
