Cianna Benamati (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) has been named the Le Moyne Athlete of the Week, presented by CADimensions, Inc., due to her play during Le Moyne's conference series against LIU.
Benamati led Le Moyne to an 11-7 win over the Sharks in game one on Saturday with seven runs batted in via two home runs and a double. Benamati launched a grand slam home run in the bottom of the first to give the Dolphins an early lead, then she smashed a two-run home run in the fourth to register her first career multi-home run game. She then added a double in the bottom of the fifth to finish with three extra-base hits and 10 total bases.
Benamati's seven RBIs are tied for the second-most in a single game in program history, while her 10 total bases are tied for the third-most in a single game in program history.
The Ballston Lake native added two hits, one RBI and one run in game two against the Sharks, then contributed a solo home run in the series finale.
On the year, Benamati leads the Dolphins in RBIs (25), home runs (8), total bases (59), slugging percentage (.678) and batting average (.333).
The Le Moyne softball team will return to action on Friday when they begin a three-game Northeast Conference series at FDU. The Dolphins and the Knights will play a doubleheader on Friday, with game one scheduled for 1:00 p.m., then will conclude the series with a 12:00 p.m. matchup on Saturday.
