DeWitt, N.Y. – FDU rallied in the singles competition to record a 5-2 win over the Le Moyne College men's tennis team on Saturday night in Northeast Conference action at Elevate Fitness.
The Dolphins swept the doubles competition for the second straight year to take a 1-0 lead in the match. At the top spot, senior
Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) and junior
Adrian Daniel (Tel Aviv, Israel/Montana State) recorded a 6-4 win over Thomas Linley and Gryffin Minor for their 10th straight victory. The victory marked the 62nd of Hatton's career, which ties him with Tom Jarry '23 for the most in the program's history. Freshmen
Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) and
Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) edged Joshua Oboniye and Andrew Nicolae at the second position, 7-6 (7-5). Freshman
Jacob Maravillas (Bergenfield, N.J./Homeschooled) and graduate student
Bernardo Teixeira (Porto, Portugal/Escola Secundária Fontes Pereira de Mel/University of Porto/Delaware) were 6-4 winners at the third spot over Tauras Mickus and Matias Neira.
The Knights captured five of the six matches in the singles competition to take the victory. Hatton defeated Oboniye at the top position for the second straight year, 6-3, 6-0, to give Le Moyne a 2-0 lead. Minor and Linley each won in three sets to even the match at two apiece. Minor registered a 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 7-5 victory at the second spot over Daniel, while Linley rallied for a 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 win over Teixeira at the third position.
