MEN’S LACROSSE RECORDS 8-5 VICTORY AT DETROIT MERCY

Detroit, Mich. – Freshman midfielder Emmet McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) and sophomore attackman Mason Ciciarelli (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) each recorded three points to lead the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to an 8-5 win over the University of Detroit Mercy in Northeast Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Titan Field.

With the victory, head coach Dan Sheehan tied Dom Starsia ((Brown 1983-92, Virginia 1993-2016) for the 10th-most wins in the history of NCAA men's lacrosse with 375. He is the second-fastest coach to reach 375 wins, doing so in 445 games, trailing only Salisbury's Jim Berkman, who reached the mark in 416 games.

Le Moyne scored the game's first five goals, including four in the first quarter. McDermott opened the scoring just 44 seconds into the contest with his sixth goal of the season. Just under three minutes later, senior midfielder Ryan Eisenmann (Boca Raton, N.Y./Boca Raton) netted his 11th goal of the year after taking a feed from McDermott. Junior attacker Owen Wilson (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) followed 49 seconds later with his 10th goal of the campaign off a move in the right alley after collecting a dish from junior midfielder Alec Constable (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield).

Following almost six and one-half minutes of scoreless play, graduate student attackman Zachary Delaney (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga/Hobart) tallied his 13th goal of the season with 4:07 remaining.

Wilson pushed Le Moyne's lead to 5-0 at the 10:47 mark of the second quarter by finishing off a feed from graduate student midfielder Ethan Loun (West Linn, Ore./West Linn).

The Titans scored the final two goals of the half. Marcus Thundercloud got Detroit Mercy on the scoreboard at the 7:00 mark with his fifth tally of the season. With 2:11 remaining in the half, Andrew Parker netted his fourth goal of the campaign.

The teams split the goals in the third quarter. Thundercloud started the scoring at the 13:04 mark with an unassisted tally. McDermott pushed the margin back to three goals with 10:11 left off a pass from Ciciarelli. Just under eight minutes later, Delaney netted his second goal of the day after collecting a feed from Ciciarelli with 2:18 left. Thundercloud capped the scoring in the quarter with 1:07 left by completing his hat trick.

Ciciarelli pushed Le Moyne's lead back to four just 58 seconds into the fourth quarter off a dish from Eisenmann.

Thundercloud completed the scoring in the game with 7:15 left after receiving a pass from Aidan Bishop.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Winger (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) tallied 13 saves, including seven in the second quarter, to earn his third victory. Ryan Richters made seven saves in the loss for the Titans.
