LOUN’S CAREER DAY LEADS MEN’S LACROSSE TO 9-4 VICTORY OVER WAGNER

Syracuse, N.Y. – Graduate student midfielder Ethan Loun (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) registered a career-best seven points to lead the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 9-4 victory over Wagner College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

With the victory, head coach Dan Sheehan passed Dom Starsia (Brown 1983-92, Virginia 1993-2016) for the 10th-most wins in the history of NCAA men's lacrosse with 376.

Wagner opened the game's scoring with the first two goals. Jake Mitchell got the scoring started at the 12:55 mark with his 11th goal of the season. Exactly seven minutes later, Danny McMahon posted his 16th goal of the year after taking a feed from Dylan Haase to force a Le Moyne timeout.

The Dolphins scored the final two goals of the quarter to even the score at two apiece. Redshirt sophomore attackman Thomas Berry (Tully, N.Y./Tully) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with 3:56 left after collecting a feed from graduate student attackman Zachary Delaney (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga/Hobart). Loun netted his first goal of the day and ninth of the season with a diving shot in front of the crease with 22 seconds left in the quarter.

Neither team scored in the second quarter, during which Wagner had an 8-4 advantage in shots, including 2-1 in shots on goal.

Le Moyne used a pair of 2-0 spurts in the third quarter to take control of the game. Loun put his team in front for the first time – and for good – at the 12:51 mark with another goal by diving across the top of the crease. Just under eight minutes later, Loun fed senior midfielder Ryan Eisenmann (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) on the left edge of the crease for his 12th goal of the season during an extra-man situation.

Wagner snapped its scoring drought of 35:27 at the 1:28 mark as McMahon finished off a feed from Mitchell.

Le Moyne scored twice in the final 17 seconds of the period to take a 6-3 lead. Loun scored his 11th goal of the season from just outside the right edge of the crease with 17 seconds to go. Le Moyne won the ensuing faceoff the ball made its way to freshman midfielder Emmet McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) before he sent a pass to Loun, who fired in his career high-tying fourth goal of the game with just six seconds to go.

The Dolphins continued their run with the first two goals of the fourth quarter, both of which came off the stick of Berry. He made the score 7-3 at the 7:55 mark after taking a pass in front of the net from Loun. Just over 100 seconds later, he scored again after collecting a feed from Delaney.

Patrick Caldwell completed Wagner's scoring with an unassisted tally out of a timeout with 4:49 left.

Sophomore attackman Mason Ciciarelli (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) capped the game's scoring with 1:33 remaining after receiving a feed in front of the empty net from Loun, who earned his career high-tying third assist of the game. Loun is the first Dolphin to record at least three goals and three assists in a game since Joey Pezzimenti did so against Bentley on April 11, 2023, when he had four goals and three assists like Loun.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Winger (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) registered 13 saves, including five in the third quarter, over 58:33 between the pipes to earn his fourth victory. He is the first Dolphin netminder to record double-digit saves in six straight games since Alex Krawec '16 did so in the final six games of the 2015 season. Angus Snow made six saves in the setback for the Seahawks.

Le Moyne (7-3, 4-0 NEC) closes out its non-conference schedule on Tuesday at home against Bucknell University at 4:00 p.m.
