Syracuse, N.Y. – A hook slide by senior infielder
Dominique Rinaldi (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) against Niagara in Le Moyne's 9-0 shutout has been named the Le Moyne Play of the Week, presented by 'Phins Hospitality.
The Dolphins held a 5-0 lead over the Purple Eagles at the bottom of the 2
nd inning, as senior catcher
Alyssa Dybacz (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W.Baker) stepped up to the plate with Rinaldi already on 1
st base after earning a 4-0 walk.
Dybacz took a swing on the first pitch she saw, lining a ball deep into center field past the outstretched glove of the Purple Eagles outfielder. Rinaldi, seeing the ball drop and being waved home, put her head down and gained a lot of ground as she rounded 3
rd base heading home. As the ball was thrown to the plate, Rinaldi managed to pull off an evasive hook slide around the catcher and was called safe, adding a 6
th run to Le Moyne's tally.
Rinaldi ended the day with two runs, one RBI and one stolen base as the Dolphins went on to win 9-0. Le Moyne is back home this weekend as the Sharks of LIU University visit the Softball Complex for a conference weekend series, the first game beginning Saturday at 1:00 P.M.
