MEN’S GOLF PLACES 13TH AT BUCKEYE CLASSIC

Columbus, Ohio – Sophomore Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) tied for 19th place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a 13th-place finish at the Buckeye Classic hosted by Ohio State University on Friday and Saturday at the par-72, 7077-yard Columbus Country Club.

The host Buckeyes rallied on the back nine Saturday to overtake the University of Michigan for the team title. Ohio State recorded a six-under 282 in the final round to finish at 18-under par 846. The Wolverines finished one shot back at 847 after turning in a 286 on Saturday following a 283 and 278 on Friday. Miami (Ohio) placed third at 15-under 849 after rounds of 286, 279 and 284. The Dolphins recorded scores of 302, 295 and 310 to place 13th with a total of 907. Kent State's Jordan Gilkison earned medalist honors at 11-under par 205 following rounds of two-under 70, five-under 67 and four-under 68.

Corby finished in a three-way tie for 19th at one-over par 217, which included an eagle, 11 birdies and 31 pars. He tallied three birdies and 12 pars en route to an opening-round 73. He followed with six birdies, an eagle and eight pars in the second round to card a five-under par 67 to land in a four-way tie for sixth place. He closed out the event with a 77, which featured two birdies and 11 pars.

Junior Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) landed in a five-way tie for 42nd place at 222, which included an eagle, 10 birdies and 27 pars. He carded a 74 in the first round, which featured two birdies and 12 pars. He then had four birdies, an eagle and nine pars in the second round on his way to a one-under 71 to finish in a nine-way tie for 17th. He posted a 77 in the final round with four birdies and six pars.

Freshman George Green (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) tied for 64th place at 230, which included an eagle, four birdies and 33 pars. He carded a 75 in the first round, which featured two birdies, an eagle and 10 pars. He then recorded 13 pars en route to a 78 in the afternoon to land in a five-way tie for 60th. On Saturday, he had two birdies and 10 pars as the third Dolphin with a 77.

Freshman Jacob Moody (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) finished in a three-way tie for 77th at 239, which featured four birdies and 26 pars. He had 10 pars in the first round en route to an 80 and then one birdie and nine pars in a second-round 80 to finish the day in a three-way tie for 76th place. He closed out the event with a 79, which included three birdies and seven pars.

Freshman Miles Tauzin-Fox (Los Angeles, Calif./New West Charter School) placed 81st at 245, which included three birdies and 27 pars. He had an 84, with a birdie and nine pars, in the first round and a 79 in the second round, including one birdie and 10 pars, to land in a tie for 80th place. He recorded an 82 with one birdie and eight pars on Saturday.

Freshman Mac Quinn (Glenwood, N.Y./Canisius HS), who played as an individual, finished at 231, which featured five birdies and 32 pars, to place in a three-way tie for 66th. He posted a 75 in the first round behind two birdies and 11 pars. He then had three birdies and 10 pars as part of a 76 in round two to land in a three-way tie for 56th place. He turned in an 80 in the final round, which included 11 pars.

The Dolphins are back in action Thursday, April 24 for the first day of the three-day Northeast Conference Championship at the Kingsmill Resort's River Course in Williamsburg, Virginia.
