Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) tied for second place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Northeast Conference Championship Thursday through Saturday at the Kingsmill Resort's par-71, 6831-yard River Course.
Howard University repeated as the team champion after overcoming a seven-shot deficit by posting a 289 on Saturday to finish the Championship at 860. The Bison recorded scores of one-over 285 and two-over 286 over the first two days. Preseason favorite LIU fell to second place at 862 after turning in a 298 on Saturday following a 283 and a 281 in the first two rounds. FDU finished in third place with a total of 869 after registering a 291, an even-par 284 and a 294. The Dolphins edged Wagner College by one shot for fourth place at 891 after recording rounds of 303, 294 and 294. FDU's Pyae Phyo Thu captured medalist honors with a seven-under par total of 206 and recording a 69 on Saturday to go with a 69 Thursday and a 68 Friday.
Corby tied for second place among the 50 competitors to compete in each of the three rounds at two-under par 211, which included an eagle, 10 birdies and 33 pars. He was in a four-way tie for fifth place after carding a first-round one-under par 70, which included three birdies and 13 pars. He moved into a tie for third after carding a second straight one-under par 70, which included an eagle, three birdies and 10 pars. He registered an even-par 71 on Saturday, which featured four birdies and 10 pars, to move up another spot.
Freshman
George Green (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) finished in a five-way tie for 18th place at 225, which included seven birdies and 32 pars. He opened with a 78, which included three birdies and eight pars, to land in a seven-way tie for 31st place. He jumped into a five-way tie for 22nd place on Friday with a 73, which featured two birdies and 12 pars. He had two birdies and 12 pars in the final round to finish with a 74, which enabled him to move up five more spots.
Freshman
Jacob Moody (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) was one shot back in a tie for 23rd place at 226, which featured an eagle, six birdies and 31 pars. He was tied for 40th place after the first day with an 80, which included one birdie and 11 pars. He moved up 13 places on Friday and into a three-way tie for 27th place by recording a 72, which featured an eagle, three birdies and eight pars. He registered two birdies and 12 pars in a final-round 74 to move up another
Junior
Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) finished in 27th place with a 229, which included seven birdies and 30 pars. He landed in a five-way tie for 19th following a 75, which featured a pair of birdies and 11 pars. He dipped into 31st place after turning in a 79 on Friday, which included a pair of birdies and nine pars. He moved back up four spots with a 75, which featured three birdies and 10 pars.
Freshman
Mike Maslanka (Taylor, Pa./Riverside), who was inserted into the lineup on Friday, followed up his 85 with a 77, which included one birdie and 11 pars.
