Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) tied for 13th place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a tie for ninth place at the 22nd Annual Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational hosted by Lafayette College on Sunday and Monday at the par-72, 6548-yard Northampton Country Club.
Sacred Heart University won the team competition with a four-over 580 off a 293 and a one-under par 287. Fairfield University finished in second place with a 585 following scores of 296 and 289. Villanova University placed third at 590 after rounds of 294 and 296. The Dolphins tied for ninth with Merrimack College at 602 after turning in a 299 and a 303. Merrimack's Kai-Jun Huang earned medalist honors after defeating Millersville's Timothy Peters in a playoff after they finished at four-under par 140.
Maglisco finished in a three-way tie for 13th place with a season-best 146, which featured five birdies and 24 pars. He was in sixth place after recording a one-under par 71 in the first round, which included five birdies and nine pars. He registered 15 pars en route to a 75 in the second round.
Freshman
Jacob Moody (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) landed in an eight-way tie for 28th place with a career-best 150, which included seven birdies and 18 pars. He was tied for first place following a first-round three-under par 69, which featured seven birdies (the most in the field) and eight pars. He slipped in the standings following an 81 on Monday, which included 10 pars.
Sophomore
Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) and freshman
George Green (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) finished as part of a six-way tie for 49th place at 153. Corby, who finished the invitational with three birdies and 23 pars, was in a 12-way tie for 41st place following a first-round 77, which featured two birdies and nine pars. He improved by one shot on Tuesday, when he posted one birdie and 13 pars. Green, who recorded two birdies and 24 pars over the 36 holes, was part of a seven-way tie for 83rd place with an 82 in the first round, which included nine pars. He jumped 34 spots on Tuesday (tied for the highest of the day) with a one-under par 71, which included two birdies, 15 pars and just one bogey.
Sophomore
Carter Mizro (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) landed in a three-way tie for 96th place with a 166, which included one birdie and 18 pars. He was part of the seven-way tie for 83rd place with an 82, which featured one birdie and nine pars. He added nine more pars on Monday as part of an 84.
Freshman
Miles Tauzin-Fox (Los Angeles, Calif./New West Charter School), who played as an individual, was part of a six-way tie for 43rd place with a career-best 152, which included two birdies and 25 pars. He opened with a 77, which featured 14 pars, to land in a 12-way tie for 41st place. He posted two birdies and 11 pars on Tuesday en route to a 75.
The Dolphins will close out their pre-Championship season Friday and Saturday at Ohio State's Buckeye Classic at Columbus Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.
