Loudonville, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's soccer team closed out its season-opening five-game road stretch by playing to a scoreless draw with Siena University on Thursday evening at Hickey Field.
The first half featured eight shots, six of which came from Siena, while the Dolphins had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. The Saints put a pair of shots on target, but freshman goalkeeper
Sophia Salladin (Fulton, N.Y./Hannibal) was able to turn away each.
The Dolphins increased the pressure in the second half as they put three of their five shots on target, but each was saved by Cate Burns. The Saints were able to get off six shots, but none were on frame, while they also posted a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Siena's Briana Neary had the last scoring chance of the contest, a chip shot from the right side of the penalty box with 3:14 remaining, but it sailed just over the crossbar.
Salladin tallied the two saves to earn her first career shutout. Senior midfielder
Alaina Carro (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent/Wheeling) led the Dolphins in the matchup with a pair of shots, including one on target in the 54th minute. Burns finished the contest with three saves for the Saints.
Le Moyne (0-4-1) is back in action on Sunday when it opens its home schedule against Saint Peter's University at 3:00 p.m.
