Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman Caroline McShea (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) has been named the Le Moyne Athlete of the week, presented by CADimensions Inc.

McShea registered the best scores by a freshman in the program's history to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a 13th-place finish at the Battle at the Creek hosted by Sacred Heart University at the par-71, 5805-yard Kings Creek Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Caroline tied for 27th place in the field of 89 competitors with a 236, which included five birdies and 25 pars. She opened with a 75, which featured two birdies and 10 pars, to land in a nine-way tie for 19th place. She followed with a 79 in the afternoon round, which included three birdies and six pars, to land in a three-way tie for 26th at 154. She tallied nine pars in the third round en route to an 82 to finish in the tie for 27th place.

McShea's 75 in the first round is the best mark by a freshman in the program's history, eclipsing the 76 by Lauren Kase '20 on September 25, 2016 at the NE10 Championship. Her 154 through 36 holes is the best score by a freshman in the program's history and she is just the third Dolphin in the program's history (Bianca Cruz-Hernandez '20 and Mia Avotins '25) to record a 154 or better through 36 holes.

The previous best mark by a freshman over 36 holes of 156 was set by Kase at the aforementioned 2016 NE10 Championship. McShea's 236 over the 54 holes is the best by a Dolphin freshman in the program's history and the fourth-best mark overall. She had the previous-best mark by a freshman with a 243 at Bucknell nine days ago.
