Recap:

UAlbany were defeated in its previous game 1-6 against Boston College on Sunday, and Le Moyne fell to Saint Peter's 1-0 last Sunday. Both sides entered today's contest looking for their first win of the season.

The first opportunity for either side wasn't until the 13th minute of play, as sophomore forward Nicole Calle (Providence, R.I./Cumberland) fired a shot from distance down the middle of the goal, resulting in a comfortable save for redshirt-freshman Claudia Volino of the Great Danes.

Junior forward Hope Adigun (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) and freshman midfielder Grace Gironda (Red Bank, N.J./Middletown South) made their first appearance of the game off the bench in the 27th minute. A few minutes later, freshman goalkeeper Sophia Salladin (Fulton, N.Y./Hannibal) made her first save of the game after senior forward Selma Elverum took a shot down the center of the goal.

Freshman midfielder Ella Lathrop (Walworth, N.Y./Ruben A. Cirillo), junior defender Maria Komala (Warsaw, Poland/LXXI Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace im/Aleksandra Fredry/Notre Dame Ohio), and freshman forward Kaitlyn Gilhooly (Chicopee, Mass,/Chicopee Comprehensive) entered the game with roughly fifteen minutes remaining in the half as both sides continued to push for the opening goal.

Gironda recorded the final attempt of the first half for either side in the 42nd minute, however her attempt was off target as both teams entered the break with the score knotted at 0-0.

The intensity of the game rose in the 2nd half as the Dolphins and Great Danes continued to push for their opener. Salladin recorded her second save of the game in the 52nd minute off of another shot from Elverum, this attempt heading towards the top right corner forcing Salladin display her quick reflexes.

Sophomore forward Alivia Day (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) entered the game in the 52nd minute as the Dolphins continued to build on their attack. Volino made her most important save of the game off a shot from Calle in the 60th minute. Calle collected the ball near midfield, before beating several defenders and cutting onto her right foot, firing a shot towards the top left corner, forcing Volino to make a leaping save, pushing the ball over the crossbar for a corner kick for the Dolphins.

Salladin made her second save of the game in the 63rd minute after redshirt-junior forward Hailey Hnis took a shot headed toward the bottom right corner. On the ensuing possession, the Great Danes scored the first goal of the game. Redshirt-sophomore defender Jolie Pye collected a clearance by the 'Phins by midfield, before whipping in a cross to find Elverum, who glanced her finish just beyond Salladin into the right side of the net.

The Dolphins earned a free kick in the 67th minute, taken by freshman defender Giana Cutuli (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico), who played a ball in towards the near post, forcing another save out of Volino. Le Moyne continued to create chances throughout the remainder of the 2nd half, but were unable to trouble Volino.

The 'Phins had their closest chance of the game come in the final 20 seconds of action, after freshman defender Bailey Hatch (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) collected a loose ball around the edge of the box, and firing a shot off the crossbar, nearly bouncing over the line to give Le Moyne its equalizer. UAlbany were able to clear the ball as the time went out, resulting in the Great Danes first win of the season.
