Box Score 2 Hamilton, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team registered 23 wins at the Colgate Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Third year
Navya Verma (Patiala, India/Apollo Public School) improved to 6-0 on the season with a trio of victories. He opened the weekend with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Colgate's Tim Vargas. He then turned in a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sebastian Quinones from St. Francis in the afternoon. He capped the weekend with back-to-back scores of 6-1 against Hamilton's Akshat Dhull on Sunday.
Third year
Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) won both of his singles matches. He downed Colgate's Parker McGowan, 6-4, 7-5, in Saturday's first round of action. He then defeated Mohammed Siddiqui from Hamilton, 6-3, 6-0, on Sunday.
Second year
Carlo Zucchini (Varese, Italy/European School of Varese) went 2-1 over the weekend. He opened Saturday with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Colgate's Jack Babka. He was then upended by St. Francis' Kevin Titus Suresh, an NEC First Team selection last year and the 2025 NEC Rookie of the Year, 2-6, 6-2, 10-1. Zucchini capped the weekend by recording a 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 win over Lleyton Mendieta from Hamilton.
Third year
Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) also went 2-1 in singles action. He fell to Colgate's Adam Fink in the first session on Saturday, 6-2, 7-5. He rallied in the afternoon to defeat Deven Pandey from St. Francis, 6-7, 6-1, 12-10. He then registered a 6-2, 6-1 win on Sunday over Hamilton's Charlie Sternberg.
First year
Justin Barrett (Kaohsiung, Taiwan/Liverpool) was 2-1 in singles play also. He fell 6-4, 6-4 to Colgate's Wittman Bulger in his first match. He then turned in a 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 victory over Luke Mitchell from St. Francis. He finished off the weekend with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Hamilton's Filip Moller.
Third year
Callum Matthew (Dorset, England/Highcliffe School) was victorious in his only singles match, 6-4, 1-6, 10-8, over Colgate's Wesley Nichols.
Second year
Gabriel Segubiense (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) split his two matches. He was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Colgate's Jerome Falcon. He then fell to Hamilton's Stuart Konezny on Sunday, 6-4, 6-2.
Fourth year
Yegor Boyev (London, England/Ashcroft Technology Academy) went 1-2 over the weekend. He fell to Colgate's Declan Hessler in the first session, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. He then tallied back-to-back scores of 6-1 in a win over Nicholas Lamantia from St. Francis. Hamilton's Martin Dimitrov posted a 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 victory on Sunday.
Fourth year
Emmanuel Cottle (Toronto, Ontario/Ontario Virtual School/Alcorn State) fell in his two matches. Colgate's Lochlan Seth posted a 6-3, 6-4 win in the first session and Noah Potts from St. Francis tallied a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
Barrett and Boyev won both of their matches as a team. They opened Sunday with a 6-1 victory over Lamantia and Mitchell from St. Francis. They were then 6-4 victors over Hamilton's Dhull and Salib.
Cottle and Segubiense went 2-1 as a doubles tandem. They opened the weekend by defeating Colgate's Seth and Babka, 6-3. In Sunday's first session, they were 6-1 winners over Titus Suresh and Quinones from St. Francis. Moller and Katelevsky from Hamilton, who are competing at the Division III ITA Masters later this Fall, posted a 6-4 win to close out the weekend.
Zucchini and fifth year
Adrian Daniel (Tel Aviv, Israel/Tichonet/Montana State) also went 2-1 in doubles action. The fell to Colgate's McGowan and Vargas on Saturday, 6-3. They opened Sunday with a 7-6 (7-3) win over Potts and Pandey from St. Francis. They followed in the afternoon with a 6-2 victory over Mendieta and Siddiqui from Hamilton.
Hoyland and Verma split their two matches. On Saturday, then fell to Colgate's Bulger and Nichols, 6-3. They were 6-4 winners over Hamilton's Konezny and Sternberg on Sunday.
Bortolaso and Matthew also went 1-1 as a duo. Colgate's Falcon and Fink posted a 7-5 win on Saturday. In Sunday's second session, they downed Hamilton's Dimitrov and Singh, 6-2.
The Dolphins will have eight competitors at the ITA New England Regional Thursday through Monday at Harvard University.
