Jacksonville, Fla. – Nicky Brown tallied seven points to lead Jacksonville University to a 20-2 win over the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team in the battle of the Dolphins on Saturday afternoon at Rock Stadium.
Jacksonville jumped out to an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Brown earned assists on the first two goals of the game and scored the third, finding Zane Czeschin at the 13:44 mark and Kai Smith just over four minutes later and then scoring with 7:23 to go off a dish from Jack Taylor.
Czeschin made it 4-0 off a pass from William Krupsky with 5:28 left and Tate Jones followed at 3:44 after a feed from Taylor. Smith scored again with 2:14 remaining. Daylin John-Hill netted his first goal of the day with 16 seconds left off a pass from Taylor, who then finished off the quarter's scoring with one second remaining.
Jacksonville tacked on three goals in the second quarter. Krupsky found the back of the net with 9:33 remaining and John-Hill scored just over 90 seconds later off a feed from Brown. Czeschin completed his hat trick with 6:34 remaining after collecting a pass from Taylor.
Jacksonville netted the first three goals of the third quarter. Gavin Angell opened the scoring at the 14:16 mark off a pass from John-Hill, who then scored 2:16 later after receiving a feed from Brown. Czeschin made it 14-0 with 5:06 left off a dish from Taylor.
Freshman midfielder
Kai Archer (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) scored his first collegiate goal with 4:22 remaining in the quarter.
Henry Fleckner finished off the scoring in the quarter with 1:50 left off a pass from Connor Sydnor.
Jacksonville recorded the first two goals of the final quarter. Brown scored with 13:16 left and John-Hill finished off a feed from Brown in an extra-man situation with 11:55 to go.
Sophomore midfielder
Conner Vaughn (Chittenango, N.Y./Vandermont (Texas)/Limestone) scored his second goal of the season with 7:13 to play.
Jack Russo started a streak of three straight goals to close out the scoring at the 6:08 mark. He scored again with 3:27 to go off a pass from Tommy Bonavita and finished off the game's scoring with 1:27 remaining off a feed from Sam Rodriguez.
Junior goalkeeper
Lucas Winger (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) tallied 16 saves, the second-most in his career, against 16 goals allowed over 46:44 between the pipes. Ryan Della earned the win after making five saves against one goal allowed over 45:00.
Le Moyne (0-2) returns to action at Holy Cross on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
