Gettysburg, Pa. – Carter Petersen recorded eight points to lead Queens University of Charlotte to a 13-3 season-opening win over the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team on Friday afternoon at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium on the campus of Gettysburg College.

The Dolphins, who played their earliest game in the program's history, opened the scoring with the first two goals of the game. Freshman midfielder Connor Lukas (New Hudson, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) tallied his first collegiate goal at the 10:53 mark. Just over 90 seconds later, senior attackman Owen Wilson (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) found the back of the net off a pass from sophomore midfielder Emmet McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville).

The Royals answered with the final two goals of the opening quarter. Petersen picked up his first goal of the day at the 7:13 mark to get Queens on the board. Ryan McDaniel knotted the score at two with 1:34 remaining in the quarter with a behind-the-back shot off a dish from Petersen.

Queens continued its run with the only five goals of the second quarter. Off a move from behind the net, Parker Beiland put the Royals in front at the 11:14 mark. Caden Cinotti followed at the 9:54 mark off a feed from Petersen. Just 45 seconds later, Ethan Scaffidi scored his first goal of the day after collecting a pass from Petersen. Will McKay made it 6-2 with 6:21 left off another feed from Petersen. Scaffidi capped the scoring in the half with an unassisted goal with 4:30 left.

The Royals netted the only two goals of the third quarter. Ben Dorbish scored the first of the stanza with 6:40 to go off a dish from Gunnar Bick. Petersen found the back of the net with just five seconds left for a 9-2 lead.

Queens extended its run to 12 straight goals with the first three of the fourth quarter. Scaffidi scored his third of the day with 10:56 remaining and tallied his fourth two and one-half minutes later. Petersen netted the final goal of the run with 5:55 to play.

Le Moyne snapped its scoring drought of 50:03 with 4:19 left as sophomore midfielder Conner Vaughn (Chittenango, N.Y./Vandermont (Texas)/Limestone) tallied his first goal as a Dolphin.

Petersen finished off the game's scoring with 1:41 left after taking a pass from McDaniel in an extra-man situation.

Junior goalkeeper Lucas Winger (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) registered 12 saves (against 12 goals) over 54:05 between the pipes. Boston Badraun tallied 10 saves in the win for the Royals in his collegiate debut.
