SAINT FRANCIS RECORDS 5-2 WIN OVER MEN’S TENNIS IN NEC OPENER

Ebensburg, Pa. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team dropped its NEC opener to Saint Francis University, 5-2, on Saturday at the Ebensburg Tennis Center.

Saint Francis claimed the point in the doubles competition by winning the odd-numbered courts. At the first position, Kevin Titus Suresh and Gregory Troyan edged freshman Carlo Zucchini (Varese, Italy/European School of Varese) and sophomore Navya Verma (Patiala, India/Apollo Public School), 6-4. Blake Lorenzo and Beau Welker clinched the point with a 6-3 win at the third spot over sophomores Callum Matthew (Dorset, England/Highcliffe School) and Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi). Sophomore Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) and freshman Gabriel Segubiense (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) def. Jonah Ng and Mario Beckles (SFU) 6-3
 
The Red Flash closed out the victory by winning four of the six matches in the singles competition. Titus Suresh edged Zucchini in the closest match of the day, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, at the top spot. Troyan was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at the second position over Matthew. Ng tallied a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Bortolaso at the fourth spot. Noah Potts defeated Yegor Boyev (London, England/Ashcroft Technology Academy) at the fifth position with back-to-back scores of 6-2. Hoyland earned Le Moyne's first point with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the third spot over Lorenzo. Verma captured a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 victory over Beckles at the sixth position.
 
Le Moyne (0-2, 0-1 NEC) returns to the courts on Saturday against Stonehill College at Elevate Fitness in DeWitt at 6:00 p.m.
