MANHATTAN RALLIES FOR 12-11 OVERTIME WIN OVER MEN’S LACROSSE

Syracuse, N.Y. – Connor Engel scored 1:22 into overtime to give Manhattan University a 12-11 come-from-behind overtime victory over the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

Thomas White scored the first goal of the game at the 12:39 mark after taking a pass from Sean Shelko.

Le Moyne countered with back-to-back goals. Senior attackman Owen Wilson (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) netted his sixth goal of the season with 8:33 left off a pass from senior attackman Alec Constable (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield). Less than two minutes later, sophomore midfielder Emmet McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) posted his second goal after receiving a feed from Wilson.

Manhattan took the lead back with the next two goals, both of which came from Nick Henry. The first came with 4:56 after taking a pass from Aiden Kane. He scored again 55 seconds later to put the Jaspers in front.

Senior attackman Thomas Berry (Tully, N.Y./Tully) tied the score for the third time with 1:09 left off a pass from McDermott.

Shelko gave the Jaspers the lead with 0.2 seconds left off a feed from the left corner from Kane.

Constable evened the scoring again just 63 seconds into the second quarter after collecting a pass from sophomore midfielder Conner Vaughn (Chittenango, N.Y./Vandermont (Texas) /Limestone).

Manhattan took its last lead until the overtime winner only 56 seconds later as White finished off a pass from Jack Miller.

The Dolphins tallied the next two goals to take the lead back. Wilson knotted the score at five with 10:29 left off a dish from sophomore midfielder Macklin Gobiel (Andover, Mass./Andover). Vaughn followed five minutes later with his eighth goal of the season to force a Manhattan timeout.

Kane tied the score at six with 2:44 remaining with his fourth goal of the season.

Le Moyne scored the final two goals of the half to take an 8-6 lead into the intermission. Berry scored with 2:16 left after taking possession of a missed shot. Senior midfielder Nathan Hoban (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) completed the half's scoring with 10 seconds remaining off a feed from Vaughn.

Wilson extended Le Moyne's lead to 9-6 with 10:38 remaining in the third quarter with his eighth goal of the season.

Miller answered back 76 seconds later with his fourth marker of the season.

Berry scored just 41 seconds into the fourth quarter off a feed from McDermott for his ninth tally of the campaign and another three-goal lead.

Connor White netted his fourth goal of the season with 10:00 to get the Jaspers back within two.

Following a penalty on Manhattan, Wilson scored from the right edge of the crease off a dish from the left side from Hoban to give the Dolphins their final three-goal lead.

Manhattan scored three times in 1:45 to even the score at 11 apiece. Kane started the run with 5:09 remaining with his fifth goal of the year. Just 44 seconds later, Shelko tallied his sixth goal of the year. Following a turnover by each team and a timeout by Le Moyne, Connor White finished off a pass from Shelko just 11 seconds later to tie the score with 3:24 left.

Manhattan won the ensuing faceoff and sent two shots wide before committing a shot clock violation with 2:00 left. The Dolphins cleared the ball, but then turned the ball over with 1:12 remaining. The Jaspers turned the ball over again before getting a shot off and the clock expired.

The Jaspers won the opening faceoff of overtime. After Thomas White had a shot blocked, Kane scooped up the loose ball and flipped it to Engel, who fired it into the net for his seventh goal of the season at the 2:38 mark.

Junior goalkeeper Lucas Winger (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) tallied 11 saves, including four in each of the second and fourth quarters, in the setback. Bryce Morris turned away five shots in the win.

Le Moyne (1-6) concludes its non-conference schedule on Tuesday at Hobart College at 7:00 p.m.
