MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO BINGHAMTON, 5-2, IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

Binghamton, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team closed out the regular season on Saturday evening with a 5-2 setback to Binghamton University in NEC action at the Lane – Starke Tennis Center.

The Bearcats rallied to win the point in the doubles competition. Sophomore Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) and freshman Gabriel Segubiense (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) defeated Ioannis Sakkas and James McPherson at the second position, 6-2, to go up 1-0. Ronin Lotlikar and Harry Liao evened the competition at one with a 6-4 victory at the top spot over freshman Carlo Zucchini (Varese, Italy/European School of Varese) and sophomore Navya Verma (Patiala, India/Apollo Public School). Andrew Fang and Dylan Breen clinched the point with a 7-5 win at the third position over sophomores Callum Matthew (Dorset, England/Highcliffe School) and Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi).

Binghamton secured the win by taking four of the six positions in the singles competition. Lotlikar recorded a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the top spot over Zucchini. Filipe Costa followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Hoyland at the second position. Segubiense captured a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) victory at the third spot over Andre Ajed. Bortolaso tallied a 7-5, 6-4 win over Sakkas at the fourth position. McPherson downed Verma at the fifth spot, 6-3, 6-0. Fang was also a 6-3, 6-0 winner at the sixth position over junior Yegor Boyev (London, England/Ashcroft Technology Academy).
 
Le Moyne (4-9, 2-5 NEC) now awaits its seeding and matchup for the first round of the NEC Championship, which begins on Thursday at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J.
