FDU RALLIES FOR 4-3 VICTORY OVER MEN’S TENNIS

Teaneck, N.J. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team was edged in an NEC match by FDU, 4-3, on Sunday evening at the Courtsense Bogota Racquet Club.

The Dolphins opened the match by earning the point in the doubles competition. Sophomore Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) and freshman Gabriel Segubiense (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) were 6-1 winners at the second spot over Gryffin Minor and Benjamin Wrann. Sophomores Callum Matthew (Dorset, England/Highcliffe School) and Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) clinched the point with a 6-3 victory at the third position over Tauras Mickus and Nate Roberman. Joshua Oboniye and Tyler Crook were leading freshman Carlo Zucchini (Varese, Italy/European School of Varese) and sophomore Navya Verma (Patiala, India/Apollo Public School), 5-2, when the point was clinched.

The Knights rallied in the singles competition to win four of the six positions to win the match. Minor won at the top spot over Zucchini, 6-3, 7-5. Crook gave FDU the lead with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the third position over Hoyland. Matthew evened the match at two apiece with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 win over Oboniye at the second spot. Mickus put the Knights back in front by rallying for a 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 victory at the fourth position over Bortolaso. Segubiense knotted the match at three with back-to-back scores of 6-3 at the fifth spot over Jorge Alonso-Cortes. Wrann clinched the deciding point with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Verma at the sixth position.
 
Le Moyne (3-8, 2-4 NEC) plays its final non-conference match of the regular season on Friday at St. Bonaventure University at 1:00 p.m.
