Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's soccer team was narrowly defeated by Temple University 1-0 on Thursday evening. Junior goalkeeper Mikayla McPheron (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) made eight saves for the third time this season.

Temple dominated in scoring chances during the goal-less opening half, outshooting the Dolphins 13 to two. McPheron made five saves to hold the score at 0-0. Freshman back Ellie McMahon (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and redshirt senior Arndis Eggertsdottir (Akranes, Iceland/Fiolbrautaskoli Vesturlands) each recorded one shot for Le Moyne.
Freshman Le Moyne forward Emma Sousa (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) had the first shot of the 2nd half at 46:23 before McPheron was once again called to action, making her 6th save of the game at 47:13. Despite her strong performance, the goalie was unable to prevent Temple's sole goal of the evening. The Owls found the back of the net directly from a corner by Victoria Pimenta. The Dolphins stopped a second goal from Temple with a team save off the line late in the 2nd. The game concluded 1-0 in favor of the Owls.
"This was a great competition level to end our non-conference play and get ready for the NEC, which we are looking forward to in just one week," said Van Fleet.

McPheron made eight saves, tying her second-most saves for the season. McMahon, Sousa and Eggertsdottir each had a shot in the contest.
What's Next:
The Dolphins travel to Teaneck, N.J. next Thursday, September 17, to face the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
