MEN’S GOLF TIES FOR SECOND AT INAUGURAL CNY CHALLENGE CUP

Endicott, N.Y. – Third year Jacob Moody (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) finished in second place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a tie for second place at the inaugural CNY Challenge Cup on Sunday and Monday at the par-71, 6538-yard Bellevue Country Club and the par-72, 7040-yard En-Joie Golf Course.

Binghamton University took first in the three-team event by just one shot with a total of 600 after rounds of 308 and 292. Le Moyne and Colgate tied for second at 601. The Dolphins recorded rounds of 311 and 290, while the Raiders had scores of 312 and 289. Colgate's Ronav Benak took medalist honors at even-par 143 after rounds of seven-over 78 and seven-under 65.

Moody took second in the field of 27 competitors at one-over 144, which included nine birdies and 18 pars. He had a 76, including two birdies and 10 pars, in the first round and a four-under par 68, featuring seven birdies and eight pars, to finish in second place each day.

Fourth year Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) tied for fourth place at 149, which included nine birdies and 18 pars. He had an 80 on Sunday, including three birdies and eight pars, and then jumped 11 places on Monday with a three-under par 69, featuring six birdies and 10 pars.

Third year Mac Quinn (Glenwood, N.Y./Canisius HS) finished in a three-way tie for 15th at 155, which featured three birdies and 22 pars. He opened with a 78, including two birdies and 10 pars, to end the day in 10th place and then followed with a 77, featuring one birdie and 12 pars.

Second year Jacob Olearczyk (Barneveld, N.Y./Holland Patent) tied for 20th place with a 159, which included two birdies and 19 pars. He had an 83 at Bellevue and then moved up three places on Monday with a 76 at En-Joie, which featured one birdie and 12 pars.

Third year Miles Tauzin-Fox (Los Angeles, Calif./New West Charter School) tied for 22nd at 160, which featured four birdies and 16 pars. He had a 77, including three birdies and seven pars, on Sunday and then posted an 83 in the second round.

Third year George Green (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton), one of six Dolphins to play as an individual, finished in a five-way tie for ninth at 153, which included three birdies and 23 pars. He registered a 79 in the first round and then moved up five places on Monday with a 74, which featured one birdie and 14 pars.

The Dolphins are back in action at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational hosted by Binghamton University on Sunday and Monday at The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin.
