DOLPHINS WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON WITH DUAL MEET VS. BOMBERS

SYRACUSE, NY – The Le Moyne College swimming and diving teams wrapped up their home regular season schedule on Saturday with a dual meet against Ithaca College. The Bombers swept Le Moyne, defeating the men 160-138 and the women 162-138. In a pre-race ceremony, all 11 seniors were recognized prior to racing for the final time in their home pool. Additionally, Le Moyne College unveiled a national championship banner to commemorate Alison Lesher's victory in the 200 butterfly last fall.

Freshman Katie O'Donnell (Delmar, NY / Bethlehem) led the Dolphins on the day capturing three individual first-place finishes and a relay victory. O'Donnell touched first in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and the 100 butterfly. She teamed up with senior Laura Ziemann (Syracuse, NY / West Genesee), Sarah Salanger (Syracuse, NY / West Genesee) and Kayla Ehle (Baldwinsville, NY / CBA) to place first in the 400 freestyle relay. Salanger claimed first place in the 200 freestyle while Nicole Murphy (Camilius, NY / West Genesee) and Meghan Nugent (Binghamton, NY / Chenango Valley) won the 200 butterfly and 200 IM respectively.

In falling to the Bombers, Four Dolphins claimed two individual wins on the afternoon. Senior Ricky Chidsey (Liverpool, NY / Liverpool) earned top honors in the 100 and 200 freestyle. Freshman Andrew Acquaviva (Delmar, NY / Bethlehem) touched first in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Sophomre Jerry Dumary (Ballston Spa, NY / Ballston Spa) placed firstin the 100 and 200 breaststroke and Mike Christine (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) claimed the 50 freestyle and the 200 butterfly. Additionally, Zach Hisert (Amsterdam, NY / Amsterdam) placed first overall in the day's first round of the one meter dive.

The relay team of Sean Hosford (Garden City, NY / Garden City), Acquaviva, Christine and Chidsey won the 400 freestyle relay with a pool record of 3:14.51.

Following a meet at Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Le Moyne will shift their focus to the championship portion of their schedule as they host the UNYSCSA Championships this February. The women will host at Nottingham High School beginning February 18th while the men will host the following week, February 25th.
