Syracuse, N.Y. – Maria Toft recorded a win at first singles and combined for a victory at first doubles to lead third-seeded Adelphi to a 5-0 win over the sixth-seeded Le Moyne College women's tennis team on Wednesday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinals.

Toft joined Alda Ribeiro to record an 8-0 win at first doubles over senior Allison Cohen (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) and sophomore Caroline Tisdell (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy). In singles play, Toft defeated Tisdell by a score of 6-0, 6-1.

Michelle Gurda also recorded victories in singles and doubles action. At third singles, Gurda downed freshman Rebecca Black (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. In second doubles action, Gurda and Nicole Byrnes posted an 8-3 victory over Black and Megan Andolina (Fulton, N.Y./Fulton).

The Panthers got their third point of the match at third doubles as Carolyn Smith and Megan Margino knocked off sophomore Elizabeth Rhode (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) and freshman Tracy Adler (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse) 8-1. Amanda Aniboli topped Rhode (6-1, 6-1) and Jamie Sussman defeated Andolina (6-2, 6-1) despite Adelphi already having clinched the match. Cohen and Ribeiro and Adler and Margino were unable to finish their matches.

Le Moyne drops to 8-8 with the loss, while Adelphi improves to 14-2 and will take on second-seeded Stonehill in the conference semifinals.
