LE MOYNE WOMEN PLACE SIXTH, MEN 12TH AT NORTHEAST-10 CHAMPIONSHIP

Westfield, Mass. – Junior Emma D'Ambro (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley) placed 13th to lead the Le Moyne College women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the 31st Annual Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Sunday morning at Stanley Park. Junior Nicholas Cutter (Housatonic, Mass./Monument Mountain) finished 45th to lead the men's squad to a 12th-place finish.

Stonehill won its third straight women's championship with 39 points after having four of the top nine runners. The Skyhawk men also claimed first place by placing four competitors in the top 10 en route to 44 points. American International had the top runner in each race for the second straight year. Jeptui Cherutich defended her conference title by crossing the finish line with a time of 17:39.34, an improvement of 23 seconds over last year, while Glarius Rop bested the men's field with a meet-record for the third consecutive year. Rop posted a time of 23:59.71 to eclipse his time from last year by 12.4 seconds.

By virtue of their sixth-place finish and Saint Rose's ninth-place finish, the Dolphins claimed the women's cross country point in the year-long "Upstate Challenge" between the two institutions. Saint Rose finished ninth in the men's team standings to pick up the men's cross country point in the "Upstate Challenge". Through six of the 14 sports, Saint Rose holds a 4-2 lead.

D'Ambro navigated the five-kilometer course in a career-best time of 18:33.36 to run under 19 minutes over five kilometers for the first time in her career and 46 seconds faster than at last year's conference meet. For her efforts, D'Ambro was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team. Senior Gina Micaroni (Blossvale, N.Y./Canastota) posted a season-best time of 19:00.75, an improvement of 32 seconds from last year, to place 30th. Freshman Rachel Crosley (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) gave the Dolphins three runners in the top-40 scorers by placing 43rd with a her fastest time of the season at 19:18.98, 34 seconds faster on the same course than two weeks ago at the James Earley Invitational. Freshman Taylor Lewis (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) recorded a 56th-place finish with her fastest time of year, 19:33.13, while junior Erin Hudson (Fulton, N.Y./Fulton) completed the race 81st in 20:05.07, an improvement from last year by a minute and 13 seconds. The women's sixth-place finish was the best since a fifth-place finish in 2008.

On the men's side, Cutter completed the eight-kilometer course with a career-best time of 26:19.96, the fastest by a Dolphin over the distance since Jake McAndrew had a time of 26:07 at the Binghamton Invitational on September 12, 2009. Junior Evan Oustrich (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) was the second Dolphin to finish with a career-best time of 26:45.15 to place 60th. Sophomore Michael Marrero (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan-Elbridge) was 82nd with a time of 27:23.51, 38 seconds faster than two weeks ago on the same course. Sophomore Christian Cobb (Port Byron, N.Y./Port Byron) placed 105th as the fourth Dolphin to complete the course with a time of 28:07.46, an improvement of 32 seconds from his previous season-best time. Junior Patrick Micaroni (Blossvale, N.Y./Canastota) rounded out the top-5 finishers for the Dolphins by placing 110th with a career-best time of 28:36.59.

The Dolphins close out the season on Sunday, Nov. 6 at the NCAA East Regional at Franklin Park in Boston. The women run at 10:00 a.m. and the men follow at 11:00 a.m.
