WOMEN PLACE THIRD, MEN SEVENTH AT JAMES EARLEY INVITATIONAL

Westfield, Mass. – Junior Emma D'Ambro (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley) and senior Gina Micaroni (Blossvale, N.Y./Canastota) finished in the top-10 to lead the Le Moyne College women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the 16th Annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State on Saturday at Stanley Park. Junior Nicholas Cutter (Housatonic, Mass./Monument Mountain) finished 17th to lead the men's team to a seventh-place finish.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy won both the men's and women's team competitions. The women won with 68 points, while the men had 67 points. Molly Rouillard of Bridgewater crossed the finish line first in the women's race with a time of 18:45.91, while Salem State's Alex Gomes won the men's race with a time of 25:43.90.

D'Ambro, the team's top finisher in four of the five meets this year, navigated the five-kilometer course in 19:14.74 to cross the finish line seventh and first among juniors. Micaroni was just under two seconds behind D'Ambro to finish the race ninth among the 354 competitors. Freshman Rachel Crosley (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) gave the Dolphins three runners in the top-25 as she placed 24th in 19:52.42. Freshman Taylor Lewis (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) placed 37th in 20:08.78, while classmate Laura Hough (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) rounded out Le Moyne's top-five finishers with a time of 20:27.14 to place 52nd.

On the men's side, Cutter completed the eight-kilometer course in a season-best time of 27:12.00 to place 17th in the field of 306 runners. Junior Evan Oustrich (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) crossed the finish line in 27:30.34 for his best time of the year and a 25th-place finish. Sophomore Michael Marrero (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan-Elbridge) gave Le Moyne three finishers in the top-50 by finishing 49th in a season-best 28:05.50. Sophomore Christian Cobb (Port Byron, N.Y./Port Byron) turned in a time of 29:11.66 to place 100th, while classmate Andrew Gilchrist (Cropseyville, N.Y./Tamarac) posted a time of 30:08.11 to round out the top-five finishers for the Dolphins with a 141st-place finish.

The Dolphins will return to Stanley Park on Sunday, October 23 for the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The men run at 10:00 a.m. with the women following at 11:00 a.m.
