Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team completed its Northeast-10 Conference schedule with a 9-0 loss to Adelphi University on Tuesday afternoon at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
The Panthers opened the match giving up just five games in doubles action. At the top spot, Maria Toft and Bianca Posa recorded an 8-1 win over junior Kristine Kenny (Baytown, Texas/Ross S. Sterling-Baytown) and sophomore Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica). At second singles, Michelle Gurda and Samra Redzematovic posted an 8-3 victory over junior Kelly Falconer (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and sophomore Jessica Geary (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse), while Gaby Adia and Taylor King topped Katherine Naughton (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) and Cathryn Mahoney (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) at third doubles, 8-1.
In singles action, Toft registered a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the top spot, while Gurda was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at second singles over sophomore Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego/Arcadia). At third singles, Joanna Haich posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over LaFleur, while Adia topped Geary at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-0. Redzematovic topped Falconer by a score of 6-0, 6-1 at the fifth spot, while Posa won at sixth singles against Naughton, 6-0, 6-2.
Le Moyne (6-9, 5-7 NE-10), which was eliminated from Northeast-10 Conference Championship contention with the loss, closes out the season on Saturday against Molloy College at 11:00 a.m. Prior to the match, senior Rebecca Black (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) will be honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for her contributions to the program.
