Mansfield, Pa. – Freshmen Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) each placed 28th to lead the Le Moyne College men's and women's cross country teams to eighth-place finishes at the ECAC Division II Cross Country Championships on Sunday at the Lamb's Creek Recreation Area.

In the men's race, Shippensburg University cruised to a first-place finish with 15 points after having the top eight finishers and 13 of the top 14. East Stroudsburg University placed second with 100 points, while Wheeling Jesuit was five points back in third place. The College of Saint Rose recorded 113 points for fourth, while West Chester University placed fifth with 127 points. Shippensburg's Braden Bruning turned in a first-place finish with a time of 25:26.3.

On the women's side, Bloomsburg University captured the team competition with 52 points after having two of the top three finishers and three of the top six. Shippensburg placed second with 67 points after having five of the top 18 finishers, while Seton Hill University totaled 82 points to finish third. Mansfield University, which hosted the Championships, placed fourth with 106 points, while East Stroudsburg registered 108 points to place fifth. Bloomsburg's Lauren Lehman won the individual championship with a time of 21:26.7.

For the Dolphin men, Beney covered the eight-kilometer course in 26:58.8 to cross the finish line in 28th place and earn 21 points. Classmate Michael Bennett (New York Mills, N.Y./New York Mills) placed 44th in 27:48.4 to tally 37 points, while freshman Brody Witaszek (Ghent, N.Y./Chatham) was five spots back with a time of 28:04.5. Freshman Joe Fallon (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) recorded a time of 28:05.5 to finish one place behind Witaszek, while junior Adam Zinger (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) was Le Moyne's fifth finisher with a time of 28:34.3 to place 58th.

For the Dolphin women, Cudney finished in 28th place to earn 27 points after navigating the six-kilometer course in 23:47.0. Classmate Shania Hayward (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) was five spots back in 33rd place with a time of 23:52.7, while senior Rachel Crosley (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) registered a time of 24:41.1 to place 49th and pick up 46 points. Freshman Anna Curtin (Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Castleton) turned in a time of 24:48.0 to cross the finish line 51s, while classmate Katherine Markstein (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) was two spots back with a time of 24:51.7 as Le Moyne's fifth finisher.

Following a weekend off, the Dolphins compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Franklin Pierce University's Gates Farm Course in Rindge, N.H. on Sunday, November 9.
