Liverpool, N.Y. – Nicole Kellogg won two matches to lead Saint Michael's College to a 5-3 win over the Le Moyne College women's tennis team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Gold's Gym.
In doubles action, the Purple Knights won two of the three matches. At the third spot, Kellogg teamed with Amelia Weeks to defeat seniors
Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego/Arcadia) and
Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica), 8-2. Erica Bundrick and Alexandra Sulkin registered an 8-4 win at second doubles over sophomore
Christina Perry (Endwell, N.Y./Seton Catholic) and senior
Jessica Geary (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse). The Dolphins got on the scoreboard at the top spot as freshmen
Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, Tamil Nadu / Kendriya Vidyalaya) and
Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec / Collège Saint-Maurice) recorded an 8-1 victory over Caroline Martin and Caroline Toutoungi.
At first singles, Vajjiravelu improved to 6-2 in conference action with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Bundrick. Perry earned Le Moyne's third point of the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win at fourth singles over Martin. Kellogg picked up her second victory of the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Benoit-Limosani at second singles. Hannah Benoit was victorious at third singles, 6-2, 6-0, over Canale, while Toutoungi topped Geary, 6-0, 6-3, at fifth singles.
Le Moyne (5-6, 4-4 NE-10), which had its three-match win streak snapped, closes out its home schedule on Sunday against Saint Anselm College at 10:00 a.m. Prior to the match, the senior class of Canale, Geary, LaFleur,
Cathryn Mahoney (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) and
Katherine Naughton (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) will be honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
