Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) placed 33rd to lead the Le Moyne College women's cross country team to a 10th-place finish at the 2014 NCAA East Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Mines Falls Park Trail. Freshman
Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) led the men's team to an 18th-place finish by crossing the finish line 84th.
The women's 10th-place finish was their best since placing seventh in 2011 and was a six-spot jump from one year ago. The men also had their best finish since 2011, when they placed 18th, while they also had a six-spot jump from last November.
American International, which won its first Northeast-10 Conference championship 13 days ago, cruised to the men's team title with just 33 points after having five of the top 13 finishers. The Yellow Jackets were led by Mike Biwott, who won his second straight regional championship after crossing the finish line in 30:34.7 to win by almost 45 seconds.
On the women's side, Roberts Wesleyan College captured the team championship in its first year of eligibility with 31 points after placing five runners among the top 10 finishers. The Redhawks were led by Rachel Prutsman, who topped the field by over five seconds with a time of 21:36.0.

Shania Hayward (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) crossed the finish line 44th among the 185-member field with a season-best time of 23:24.9, while sophomore
Anna Curtin (Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Castleton) turned in a season-best time of 23:49.8 to place 61st. Senior
Rachel Crosley (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) closed out her cross country career by placing 82nd with a season-best time of 24:21.6, an improvement of over 21 seconds from last year. Sophomore
Elena Doctor (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East) rounded out Le Moyne's top five with a time of 25:01.2, 1:24.2 faster than a year ago.
On the men's side, Beney covered the 10-kilometer course with a time of 34:25.9 and was the 13th freshman to finish. Classmate
Joe Fallon (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) was four spots back in 88th place with a time of 34:39.0, while fellow freshman
Brody Witaszek (Ghent, N.Y./Chatham) turned in a time of 35:25.7 to place 112th.
Michael Bennett (New York Mills, N.Y./New York Mills) was the fourth Dolphin freshman to cross the finish, placing 115th among the 181-member field with a time of 35:31.5, while junior
Adam Zinger (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) rounded out Le Moyne's top five with a time of 35:52.9 to place 131st.
