WOMEN'S TENNIS RALLIES FOR 5-4 WIN OVER AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

DeWitt, N.Y. – Juniors Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego/Arcadia) and Jessica Geary (Cicero-North Syracuse) recorded singles wins to lead the Le Moyne College women's tennis team to a 5-4 come-from-behind win over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Gold's Gym.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles action. Canale teamed with senior Kelly Falconer (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) at the third spot to earn Le Moyne's point with an 8-0 win over Romane Wilmotte and Jasmine Byrd. At first doubles, Marine Cartier and Ana Simoes registered an 8-5 win over freshman Christina Perry (Endwell, N.Y./Seton Catholic) and Geary, while Isabela Daudt and Eleana Fulop posted an 8-2 victory over senior Kristine Kenny (Baytown, Texas/Ross S. Sterling-Baytown) and sophomore Allison Jones (Utica, N.Y./Notre Dame) at second doubles.

After the teams split the first four singles matches to be completed, the Yellow Jackets held a 4-3 lead over the Dolphins with the points for third and fourth singles still to be decided. At the third spot, Canale was an 8-6 winner over Daudt, while Geary registered an 8-6 victory over Fulop at fourth singles. The Yellow Jackets claimed the points at the top two spots as Cartier won at first singles, 8-2, over Perry, while Simoes posted an 8-1 win at second singles over Kenny. At fifth singles, Jones turned in an 8-4 victory over Wilmotte, while Falconer recorded Le Moyne's most lopsided win, 8-2, over Byrd at sixth singles.

Le Moyne (4-12, 3-8 NE-10), which has won back-to-back matches and four of its last six, closes out the season on Saturday against The College of Saint Rose at 3:00 p.m. at the Gold's Gym in Liverpool. Prior to the match, the senior class of Kenny, Falconer, Christine Flask (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Onondaga C.C.), Michelle McCabe (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) and Maggie Reagan (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) will be honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
