Rochester, N.Y. – Freshman
Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) finished in 24th place to lead the Le Moyne College women's cross country team to a 14th-place finish at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon. Freshman
Brody Witaszek (Ghent, N.Y./Chatham) led the men's team to a 15th-place finish by crossing the finish line 70th.
Cornell University had five of the top 11 individual finishers en route to capturing the women's team competition with 32 total points. The host Redhawks finished in second place with 52 points, while Laurentian placed third with 57 points. St. Bonaventure University tallied 139 points to finish in fourth place, while St. Thomas Aquinas College placed fifth after recording 188 points. Kerry Caher from St. Bonaventure captured first place in 17:34.3.
In the men's race, SUNY Cortland claimed the team competition with 40 points after having four runners finish in the top 11. Cornell finished in second place with 42 points after having five of the top 14 finishers. Roberts Wesleyan placed third with 71 points, while Fredonia registered 104 points to place fourth. Molloy recorded 196 points to turn in a fifth-place finish. SUNY Cortland's Nick Marcantonio crossed the finish line first in 25:41.8.
Cudney covered the five-kilometer course in 19:16.1 to cross the finish line in 24th place. Freshman
Katherine Markstein (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) recorded a time of 21:04.6 to place 112th, while sophomore
Elena Doctor (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East) finished 121st in a time of 21:09.7. Senior
Rachel Crosley (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) registered a time of 21:12.3 to place 125t, while freshman
Savannah Stevens (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) crossed the tape in 21:26.1 to place 140th.
On the men's side, Witaszek navigated the eight-kilometer course in a time of 28:10.7 to place 70th. Classmate
Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) was eight spots back with a time of 28:21.1, while fellow freshman
Michael Bennett (New York Mills, N.Y./New York Mills) recorded a time of 29:06.1 to cross the finish line 98th. Junior
Adam Zinger (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) placed 120th in 29:39.3, while sophomore
Colin Teeter (Central Square, N.Y./Central Square) recorded a time of 29:51.3 to place 128th.
The Dolphins are back in action on Saturday at the Cazenovia College Invitational.
