Ithaca, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's track teams competed in the first event in almost 45 years on Friday night at Cornell University's Southern Tier Collegiate Open at Barton Hall. Joining the Dolphins and the Big Red at the meet was Binghamton, Canisius, SUNY Cortland, Ithaca, St. John Fisher and Widener.
In the men's 400-meter dash, the Dolphins placed three runners in the top 12. Senior
Aaron Fuller (Troy, N.Y./Lansingburgh) won the third heat and placed seventh overall with a time of 54.52 seconds. Freshman
Kevin O'Connor (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) placed 10th in 57.90 seconds, while freshman
Elliot Hernandez (Boonville, N.Y./Adirondack) posted a time of 59.24 seconds to place 12th. Junior
Derek Clar (Scottsville, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) had a pair of top-12 finishes as he placed 10th in the 500-meter dash in 1:20.38 and 12th in the 800-meter run in 2:21.85. The one-mile run saw a pair of Dolphins finish in the top-13 as freshman
Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) crossed the finish line in 4:37.72 to place eighth, while
Colin Teeter (Central Square, N.Y./Central Square) recorded a time of 5:13.09 to place 13th. Freshman
Matthew Civilette (Fredonia, N.Y./Fredonia) placed in the top-10 in the long jump and the triple jump. With his second attempt of the triple jump, Civilette registered a distance of 41-feet, 7.25-inches to place sixth, while he jumped 19-feet, 4.25-inches to place 10th in the long jump. Freshman
David Slattery (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) opened his career by placing seventh in the shot put with a throw of 41-feet, 8-inches on his sixth attempt.
On the women's side, the Dolphins placed a pair of runners in the top 20 in the 60-meter dash.
Morel Anderson (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglas) registered a time of 8.84 seconds to place 14th, while sophomore
Annette Blair (Syracuse, N.Y./Faith Heritage) placed 19th in 9.20 seconds. In the opening event of the night, the 3000-meter run, freshman
Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) crossed the finish line 18th in 11:25.34. A pair of freshman recorded top-14 finishes in the 400-meter dash as
Abigail Saville placed 13t in 1:07.37, while
Alison Iles (West Genesee) was one spot back in 1:12.72. In the 800-meter run, the Dolphins had three runners place in the top 11. Senior
Laura Quercia (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus/SUNY Cortland) registered Le Moyne's best finish of the night by placing fifth in 2:28.16, while freshman
Erin Fayle (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) was 10th in 2:43.58 and classmate
Katherine Markstein (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) recorded a time of 2:50.40 to place 11th. Freshman
Shania Hayward (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) turned in a 16th-place finish in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:28.78, while the Dolphins had a pair of top-12 finishes in the one-mile run. Senior
Rachel Crosley (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) placed 10th in 6:32.61 and
Alexandra Sheehan (Moorestown, N.J./Holy Cross) was 12th in 7:31.25. Freshman
Meg Hubregsen (Honeoye Falls-Lima) opened her career by placing 14th in the long jump with a leap of 14-feet, 0.50-inches on her second attempt, while
Bella Sterly (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) posted a toss of 35-feet, 1.25-inches in the shot put to place 12th.
The Dolphins return to action next Saturday at the Saint Lawrence Invitational.
