James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) won two matches, but the Le Moyne College men's tennis team fell to Edinboro University, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at non-conference action at Gold's Gym.
In doubles action, Gayvert teamed with classmate
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) to defeat Vitor Albanese and Brandon Romain at the top spot, 8-3. At second doubles, Bruno Borja and Daniel Galimany posted an 8-5 win over freshmen
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) and
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds), while Anmol Sandhu and Juan Estepa were 8-1 winners over redshirt junior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) and sophomore
Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Geneseo) at the third spot.
At the top singles spot, Gayvert was victorious over Borja in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. At second singles, Albanese posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Barton, while Estepa registered a 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles over Spoor. Galimany recorded a 7-5, 6-3 win over Legris at fourth singles in the closest match of the afternoon, while Sandhu was a 6-0, 7-5 winner over Procopio at fifth singles. Romain topped sophomore
Adam Celata (Hamilton, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional) at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-3.
Le Moyne (4-3) is back in action on Sunday against Daemen College at 12:45 p.m. at Gold's Gym in Liverpool.
