DeWitt, N.Y. – Jared Ingoglia and Amos Baptiste each won two matches to lead the Rochester Institute of Technology to a 6-2 win over the Le Moyne College men's tennis team on Friday night at Gold's Gym.
The Tigers swept the three doubles matches. Ingoglia and Kevin Layer teamed at the first spot to defeat sophomores
James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa), 8-6. At the second spot, Ken Chou and Frank McGinn III recorded a 9-7 win over freshman
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) and redshirt junior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.), while Amos Baptiste and Jason Alexander were 8-4 winners over sophomores
Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) and
Adam Celata (Hamilton, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional) at third doubles.
In singles action, Gayvert recorded Le Moyne's first point of the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Layer at the first spot. Legris earned the second point by registering a 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 win at fourth singles over Alexander. At second singles, Baptiste recorded a 6-3, 6-4 win over Barton, while Ingoglia rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Spoor at the third spot. Marc Lachance closed out the match with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) win at fifth singles over Procopio. With the match decided, sixth singles was not played.
Le Moyne (5-5) resumes Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday against Assumption College at 4:00 p.m. at Gold's Gym in Liverpool.
