Oceanside, N.Y. – Adelphi University won five of the six singles matches in straight sets en route to defeating the Le Moyne College men's tennis team, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Point Set Racquet Club.

In doubles action, Matteo Cannavera and Chiwete Njokanma registered an 8-3 victory over sophomores James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) at the top spot. Justin Vijungco and Sebastian Zapata recorded an 8-6 win over freshmen Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) and Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) at second doubles, while Uladzislau Litvinchuk and Sander Brenner posted an 8-0 victory over redshirt junior Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) and sophomore Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) at third doubles.

At first singles, Cannavera and Gayvert played the closest match of the afternoon. Cannavera captured the opening set, 6-0, while Gayvert stayed alive in the match by taking the second set, 7-5. Cannavera claimed the tiebreaker, 10-7, to record the win in the match. Litvinchuk recorded consecutive scores of 6-1 to defeat Spoor at second singles, while Njokanma was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Legris at the third spot. Brenner registered a 6-3, 6-2 win over Barton at the fourth spot in the second-closest match of the day, while Zapata picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Doney at the fifth spot. Ryan Villarruel topped Procopio, 6-1, 6-2, at sixth singles to close out the match.

Le Moyne (5-7, 3-3 NE-10), which has dropped three straight conference matches after winning its first three, opens a four-match homestand on Saturday against American International College at 4:15 at Gold's Gym in DeWitt.
