Hamilton, N.Y. – Jacob Daugherty was victorious at the top singles and doubles spots to lead Colgate University to a 9-0 win over the Le Moyne College men's tennis team on Sunday afternoon at the Sanford Field House.
In doubles action, Daugherty teamed with Tom Haile to defeat sophomore
James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and sophomore
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee), 8-3. Alan Pleat and Nick Laub recorded an 8-2 win over sophomore
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and redshirt junior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) at second doubles, while Mark Pronchick and Dean Koman were 8-0 winners over sophomores
Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Geneseo) and
Adam Celata (Hamilton, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional) at the third spot.
At first singles, Daugherty won in straight sets over Gayvert with back-to-back scores of 6-0. Pleat was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Barton at the second spot, while Laub won the closest match of the afternoon over Spoor, 6-2, 6-2, at third singles. Win Reynolds posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Legris at the fourth spot. Bobby Alter and Jake Hirschberg each recorded 8-0 wins over Procopio and Celata at the fifth and sixth spots, respectively.
Le Moyne (5-4) hosts Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday at 6:45 p.m. at the DeWitt Gold's Gym.
