Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and sophomore
Brittney Mack (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park) each placed first to lead the Le Moyne College men's and women's cross country teams to first-place finishes on Saturday afternoon at Finger Lakes Community College's Bruce Bridgeman Invitational.
In the men's race, the Dolphins had the first four finishers en route to 22 points to claim first place by 60 points. Mohawk Valley Community College placed second with 82 points, while Lorain Community College was third with 96 points and Columbus State Community College finished fourth with 103 points.
Beney, who opened the season with a second-place finish at the Le Moyne Short Course Invitational last Saturday, navigated the five-mile course in 28:45 to place first by 66 seconds. Freshman
Nick Taylor (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) crossed the finish line second in 29:51, while classmate
Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) was one spot back in third in 30:43. Sophomore
Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) completed Le Moyne's 1-2-3-4 finish with a time of 31:10. Freshman
Dom Battaglia (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) registered a time of 33:30 to round out Le Moyne's scorers with a 13th-place finish.
On the women's side, Le Moyne had five of the first seven scorers on its way to 18 total points and a 40-point victory. Columbus State Community College placed second with 58 points, Keuka College was third with 79 and Herkimer Community College registered 84 points for fourth place.
Mack, who finished fourth in the season-opener last week, covered the five-kilometer course in 20:50 to top the field by 25 seconds. Junior
Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) registered her second straight second-place finish with a time of 21:15, while freshman
Siara Clos (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga) placed third in 21:26. Senior
Elena Doctor (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East) was Le Moyne's fourth finisher in 22:03 to place fifth, while
Shania Hayward (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) turned in a time of 22:31 to place seventh and round out Le Moyne's scorers.
The Dolphins return to action next Saturday at the Kutztown University Challenge.
