Ithaca, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's indoor track teams opened their third season of competition on Saturday afternoon at Cornell University's Southern Tier Collegiate Open at Barton Hall. Joining the Dolphins and the Big Red at the meet was Binghamton University.
For the women, sophomore
Brittney Mack (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park) registered a pair of NE10-qualifying times and one program record. She eclipsed the program's record in the mile run with a time of 5:29.47 to place sixth. She recorded a team-best eighth-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:29.70.
Sophomore
Bethia Nivens (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) recorded a pair of top-eight finishes in the sprint events. She turned in a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash in 8.37 seconds after posting an NE10-qualifying time of 8.32 seconds in the preliminaries. She also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash in 27.69 seconds.
Freshman
Ashley Anderson (Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) opened her collegiate career by placing sixth in the 60-meter dash in 8.60 seconds.
In the 400-meter dash, the Dolphins had four runners finish in the top-seven. Sophomore
Rachael Miller (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) finished third with an NE10-qualifying time of 1:03.60. Junior
Meg Hubregsen (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) was fifth in 1:06.02, freshman
Jordan Sloan (Central Square, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) placed sixth in 1:06.46 and
Alexandra Sheehan (Moorestown, N.J./Holy Cross) posted a time of 1:22.88 to place seventh. Miller and Sloan also posted top-10 finishes in the 800-meter run. Miller finished in 2:40.27 to place ninth, while Sloan was one spot back in 2:46.53.
In the 600-meter run, junior
Allison Iles (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) placed sixth in 2:00.10, while sophomore
Val Pirro (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) finished seventh in 2:02.38.
Junior
Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) registered an NE10-qualifying time of 11:22.61 to place ninth in the 3000-meter run.
Junior
Bella Sterly (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) registered a pair of top-eight finishes in the throwing events. She qualified for the NE10 Championship in the shot put with a toss of 35-feet, 1.75-inches to place eighth, while she placed seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 27-feet, 3.25-inches.
On the men's side, the team had its highest combined placements in the 1000-meter run as three Dolphins placed in the top-five. Freshman
Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) finished second with a time of 2:41.89. Junior
Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) recorded a time of 2:53.43 to place fourth, while freshman
Dom Battaglia (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) placed fifth in 3:00.08.
In the one-mile run, the Dolphins had four runners place in the top-seven. Davitt led the group by placing fourth in 4:36.06, while Beney was next in 4:38.03. Battaglia finished sixth in 5:08.70, while classmate
Nicholas Skakal (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) posted a time of 5:33.38 to place seventh.
The Dolphins also had three runners in the top-seven in the 3000-meter run. Sophomore
Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) registered a time of 9:22.05 to place fourth. Senior
Ryan Homeyer (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) finished sixth in 10:19.16, while freshman
Connor Price (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) was seventh in 11:00.53.
The Dolphins had five finishers in the top-nine in the 800-meter run. Sophomore
Hamza Elhabbal (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) had the best finish by placing fifth in 2:25.52. Freshman
Colton Francemone (Solvay, N.Y./Solvay) opened his collegiate career by finishing sixth in 2:26.54, while Skakal was one spot behind in 2:30.82. Junior
Kevin O'Connor (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) placed eighth in 2:30.87, while freshman
Alexander Flack (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) posted a time of 2:45.61 to place ninth.
The Dolphins also had four finishers in the top-10 in the 400-meter dash. O'Connor led the quartet by placing eighth in 55.17 seconds. Elhabbal was eighth in 56.13 seconds, while freshman
Nicholas Marchese (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) was ninth in 57.80 seconds and Francemone was 10th in 59.16 seconds.
Freshman
Jacob Davis (Feura Bush, N.Y./Bethlehem) posted top-nine finishes in each of the throwing events in his first collegiate action. In the shot put, he placed seventh with a distance of 39-feet, 2.5-inches. He placed ninth in the weight throw with a mark of 33-feet, 7.5-inches.
Sophomore
Jordan Finch (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie) turned in a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 23.92 seconds. He also placed 11th in the 60-meter dash in 7.41 seconds.
Freshman
John Stoddard (Middleport, N.Y./Royalton Hartland) recorded a ninth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.51 seconds in his collegiate debut.
Senior
Cresnor Holt (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) registered a 10th-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 24.21 seconds.
The 3200-meter relay quartet of Beney, Davitt, Klein and freshman
Nick Taylor (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) placed first in 9:04.44.
The Dolphins return to action next Saturday at the St. Lawrence University Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
