Kutztown, Pa. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team closed out its regular season with a 9-0 victory over Kutztown University on Saturday afternoon at Keystone Courts.
The Dolphins opened the day by sweeping two of the three matches in the doubles competition. At the top spot, seniors
Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, Tamil Nadu/Kendriya Vidyalaya) and
Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec/Collège Saint-Maurice) registered an 8-2 win over Taylor Capoferri and Alicia Pursell. Freshmen
Marta Nunez (Rye, N.Y./Antonio Lopez (Spain)) and
Camila Humala (Lima, Peru/Antonio Raimondi) swept Shadimon Navarro and Mackenzie Delp at the second position, 8-0, while junior
Tiffany Hamdan (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City/Roberts Wesleyan) and freshman
Caroline St. Antoine (Longueuil, Québec/Cégep Édouard-Montpetit) blanked Ashley Carter and Yasmeen Malik at the third spot, 8-0.
In the singles competition, Vajjiravelu defeated Capoferri in three sets at the first position, 6-2, 1-6, 10-3. Hamdan cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the second spot against Pursell, while Benoit-Limosani was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at the third position against Malik. St. Antoine picked up her 10th dual-match win of the year, 6-0, 6-1, over Delp at the fourth spot. At the fifth and sixth spots, Nunez and Humala registered 6-0, 6-0 victories over Elyssa Tomczyk and Carter, respectively.
Le Moyne (12-4), which won all four of its non-conference matches during the Fall season, opens the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Wednesday as the fifth seed at fourth-seeded Assumption College at 1:00 p.m.
